Yes, Movex can certainly provide moving truck service at storage facilities. You will need to check with the facility manager to find out where we can park the moving van. All storage places have a staging area because moving vans load in and out of them on a daily basis.

The amount of time allowed for loading and unloading varies with the amount of space that you have reserved on the moving truck. For security and safety reasons, the driver stays with the moving van during the loading process. We do not leave vehicles overnight unless the entire moving truck has been ordered and the overnight parking is requested by the customer.

What is the time window for the truck to arrive on moving day? Is there a way to coordinate the day before, etc.? How early would you suggest having loaders arrive...so as not to pay workers for time where there is no truck to load? Thanks.

The moving trucks are generally scheduled to be at you residence first thing in the am (8am). That being said, a number of factors beyond our control can influence the arrival time. So, we suggest that you have your labor arrive at 9am. If they arrive before the truck, they can start staging and preparing things for loading. If the moving truck arrives before them (which it usually does), you can have a cup of coffee while waiting on your labor to arrive.

Most moves go off without a hitch.

The moving trucks do have the tracking in the walls for decking, so if you wish to provide your own materials, you may use if for that purpose. I can pack up a house. No problem. I can unload the truck. Again, no problem. But how do you load a truck? That is, besides heavy/large things first (??) and on the bottom, any other tips? Moving is not rocket science. You have the basics down.... heavy stuff on the bottom, light stuff on the top. The straps and tie downs inside the moving truck are truly self explanatory... very easy to use. The drivers oftentimes will give helpful advise on loading. That being said, they will not "supervise" your loading, just give some helpful tips.

My only big concern is the pickup and delivery times. Not so much the dates, but the hours. This concern is based off of the people I will hire to load and unload the truck. For example, if I hire a company to come and load the truck this Friday, because that is the date your quote has on it, what time do I tell them to come (as you have a window from 8 AM to 12 AM)? The follow up question is; is there a way to secure a smaller window, such as from 8 AM to 9 AM? I really don't want to pay 8 guys for 4 hours to do nothing. The same questions would apply at the destination. Thank you.

You have a very liberal amount of time in which to load the moving truck. I would recommend that you have your labor come at 10 am. That way, if the driver is early, he will set things up and you won't be under any pressure from your labor. If the driver arrives later, say 12, your labor could have already been staging your furniture and getting it ready so that loading can commence as soon as the driver arrives. The reason we give an 8 to 12 window is obvious in that traffic and 18 wheelers don't mix well. This can cause unexpected delays. We always try to have the moving trucks in position at 8am. We give the 8 to 12 window to hedge our bets and set a proper expectation with the customers.

I know you are not a storage company, but would you be less expensive with your "Linear Foot" charges than a traditional moving company to move this SHORT distance?
My storage requirements will be for at least 4-5 months. At that time I would have you move my belongings from the staorage facility to another address in the Denver Metro area. What do you reccommend? Would you be less or more expensive?
Also I will need help in the LOADING of my belongings INTO your moving truck. I can do the packing of boxes, but cannot lift. Where on your web site is the icon to click on to hire Loading help? I don't see it.

While there are no "rules" for loading moving trucks, there are a couple of tricks that may help. First and foremost, all moving vans provided by Movex come with furniture blankets.. use them! Make sure that your wood furniture is well padded. Even something as harmless as a cardboard box can damage your wood furniture if it is sitting on it without a blanket in between.

Load your bulkiest items first. Couches should be stood on end and strapped to the wall. Use the smaller items to "fill in" the areas around the bulky items.

Use common sense. Don't load heavy items on top of light items. Moving is not rocket science and an ounce of thoughtful prevention is worth a pound of cure.

90% of damages are caused by excessive handling. Once you load your furniture onto the moving truck into its private compartment, it is never offloaded (unless there is an equipment failure that gives us no other option, in which event you would be notified prior to transfer).

Generally he smokes cigarettes and drinks beer.... just kidding.

Sometimes the drivers will leave if you are loading a full truck. Sometimes, he will offer to help. Other times, he will get some much needed rest in the sleeper of his truck. It all depends on the situation.

How long does the company allow me to load the vehicle, then also to unload the vehicle, since the drivers remain with the vehicle and are being paid by the company. For a shipment of that size, the moving truck will standby for 6 hours at each end. After 6 hours, the charge is $40 per hour. If you think that 6 hours will not be enough, request more in advance and the cost will be half that.

The price per foot "on the spot" is simply equal to the price you contracted for. For example, if you ordered 18ft for $1800, and you needed 20ft, your cost would be $2000. We allow up to 4ft of on the spot overage (subject to availability). If you are concerned about your space, order a little extra in advance. On the scenario above, the 20ft shipment ordered in advance might have only cost $1875 where "on the spot" it would have cost you 2k.

As mentioned in the previous post, the driver does wait while you load the truck so that you do not have a moving van parked in front of your house indefinitely (a drawback our competitors do not mention).

We have a rather large network of small local moving companies that are able to assist you with loading and unloading. If you call 800-876-6839 and ask for extension 2008, we have a rep that will assist you with pricing and get you in contact with them. These movers are not employees of Movex and can help you with loading trucks provided by Movex or any other rental truck that you have. We will be glad to help you either way.

Moving contents from Florida to NY - do you need to physically put the contents on the truck yourself?

Yes and no. Movex provides door-to-door transportation services. Many of our clients save themselves a lot of money by doing the loading and unloading themselves. If you need assistance with that, we can help you with pricing and availability with labor services that can help you load and unload. Movex provides this as a free service for you (you still pay the loaders and unloaders, but Movex does not participate in that revenue).
