> Ask A Question > Add A Comment from Tasha M. in SC - April 29, 2009 We will be moving to a military base and do not know the exact date of the move , i was wondering how many days is it from woodruff, sc to Fort carson, co and also if the date is sooner than the date requested can we change it and have items arrive earlier Tasha,
You can count on us transporting your goods approximately 500 miles a day. So it would take 4 or 5 days to get to Colorado. We do have flexibility in our scheduling and can provide service to just about any point in the US in under 72 hours. Obviously, the more notice that we have the easier it is to get you into our trucking schedule and provide excellent service.
Movex from Bonnie S. in FL - April 6, 2009 Is MOVEX for military personnel only? Bonnie,
Quite the contrary, the majority of our business is domestic. We have great options for anyone who is moving long-distance and wants to save a lot of money.
Movex from Daniel S. in CA - January 25, 2009 I am a military retiree. Can I take advantage of Movex also? It would not be a DITY move. Locations would be from Imperial Beach, Ca to Alice, Tx Daniel,
Absolutely. Movex moves thousands of "domestic" consumers every year. As a retired military member, we will also extend you an additional $5000 of loss coverage at no charge.
Movex from Jesica H. in CA - January 23, 2009 i was wondering when doing a dity move...i was told you have to weigh the truck empty then full..is that done before the move, or do we have to weigh it full when we get to our location? Jesica,
Movex specializes in military moves. The driver will weigh the moving truck empty and then, after you have loaded, weigh it in transit. You will be presented with these weight tickets at destination so that you can be reimbursed for your move.
MOvex from Pete K. in UT - November 17, 2008 When moving onto an Air Force base with Movex, does the base allow the truck onto the installation, or do we have to clear it with the TMO before it shows up? Pete,
TMO will need to give the moving trucks clearance prior to them being allowed on base. They will issue a pass and parking permit for the rig. The driver will meet you at the base gates and you will need to personally escort the vehicle to your home.
Movex from Brandon Q. in VA - November 9, 2008 what exactly is on a weight ticket. Do they record how many axles are being weighed Brandon,
Movex provides FREE weight tickets for all military DITY moves. The weight ticket has the empty weight of the moving truck and the weight of the moving truck with all of your stuff on it. The military will take the difference an reimburse you for the cost that they would have spent to do a full-service move for you. This is a great program to use for a Movex move as the amount of money that they give you is generally much higher than what we charge... So you can actually make money when doing a military move with Movex!
Call 800-876-6839 and ask for Stuart at xt. 3212 with questions about this program.
Movex from LaToya R. in KS - September 28, 2008 While my husband is deployed I and while he is gone I would like to move back home with family. The transportation office said they won’t help since I'm responsible for the move. Does this mean I don't qualify for military moves? Also, even though this would be considered a DITY move and transportation said they wouldn't help, is it true I wouldn't get any type of reimbursed? LaToya,
Those questions are better answered by your MTMC (Military Traffic Management Control) officer. I don't think that they will pay for your DITY move if your spouse (who is the military member) is not moving as well. Being that he is deployed, you might get some special consideration. Again, a question for the transportation office.
Good luck, Movex from Brittany D. in KY - August 9, 2008 My fiance is currently living in Ft Carson, Colorado and I'm planning on moving in with him within the next month. He has talked about a DITY move, but because we are not married yet, I'm unsure if we are able to qualify for this. Does anyone know the answer to this? Brittany,
If you are not married, you will not qualify for the military DITY move program. That is for military members and spouses only. I would recommend having him talk to the base transportation officer and see if they will ship your goods under his name.
Movex from Steve G. in CA - July 3, 2008 I am leaving the military and having my household goods and compact car shipped from CA to NY. I am looking to do a self move becuase I hear that I can recive more money in compensation than if I allow the Navy to ship everything for me. How does MoveX handle military moves, that are based on wieght and not volume, in order to maximize my move allowance? Steve,
You have come to the right place. Even though we charge based on the space you use on the moving truck, Movex will provide you with weight tickets so that you can get reimbursed by the Navy. The difference between what the Navy will pay you and what you pay Movex is the money that YOU GET TO KEEP! Military members are making money every week by using our service (and actually saving the government money at the same time). It is a true win-win situation.
Make sure that you tell your relocation specialist that you are a military move. They will set up your shipment to have weight tickets and you get an additional 10K of insurance at no charge.
Movex from Charles L. in ID - June 23, 2008 When I retired from the USAF my household goods were delivered by a Mayflower moving truck/trailer. It was very large and I belive I used every bit of space. I am concerned that I may underestimate the space I need on your truck/trailer. What is the best way to determine this? Charles,
If you used the whole Mayflower moving van, you will use the whole moving van provided by Movex. Most of those types of trucks have uniform dimensions. The only concern that I would have is how tightly the Mayflower crew packed your goods into the truck to conserve space. If they used every square foot of the truck, you may have difficulty making everything fit when loading yourself. That is why we always recommend that you order a couple of extra feet. In your case, I would recommend paring down a bit to prevent overflows on loading day (which can be costly and a pain in the backside for all of us!).
Movex from Marti F. in FL - June 5, 2008 I was wondering if you happen to have a military discount? Marti,
Our rates are already too low to discount so we offer active-duty military members an additional $10,000 of coverage for their goods at no charge.
Movex from Travis S. in IL - June 5, 2008 A customer mentioned in a posting that he/she had to ask for a receipt. When do I get a receipt being that I'm doing a military DITY and will need a receipt to file a claim upon arrival at destination. Travis,
If you need weight tickets for your military reimbursement, the driver will bring those to your delivery. You need to let your sales rep know when you book your move so that they can put special instructions in your record for the driver to do so.
As for receipts, we can get you payment receipts the day that we run your credit card for your move.
Movex from Tram T. in WA - May 28, 2008 I am in the military and having the military move most of my household goods. I am also doing a partial DITY move. Are you able to provide a partial DITY move to include shipment of my car? Tram,
Yes. We can provide you with DITY move service and we can provide you weight tickets for your shipment so that you can get reimbursed by the government.
Making Moving Easier, Movex from Edwin M. in FL - May 12, 2008 I am in the United States Military and I wanted to know do you all give military discounts? Edwin,
We offer all military customers an additional $10,000 of coverage for their move at no additional charge. We also have an excellent program for DITY (military do-it-yourself) moves that will help you not only move, but also make money by helping the government save money. Please call one of our relocation specialists for details at 800-876-6839.
Making Moving Easier, Movex from Emily H. in SC - February 26, 2008 My husband is in the military and we are doing a dity move and are required to have an empty and full weight ticket in order to get reimbursed for the move. Is it possible to obtain an empty and full weight ticket from you if we decide to use movex? Emily,
Movex is a great option for DITY moves. We will provide you with empty and full weight tickets at no charge. Also, when you move with Movex you can put your car on the moving van with your furniture. The military will reimburse you for the weight of your entire shipment. This is an excellent opportunity for you to move and make some money in the process as the military will pay you more than the cost of your entire Movex move.
Making Moving Easier, Movex from Bartholomew S. in CA - June 22, 2007 Is it possible to obtain empty and loaded certified weight certificates of my household goods? Because I will need them to make a travel claim (military). Bartholomew,
Movex is an excellent choice for your military move. By loading a moving truck provided by Movex, you can not only save money on your move, but also make money under the government DITY move program.
Movex will gladly provide you with certified weight certificates so that you can be reimbursed for your move by the Traffic Management Office.
Movex from sheila S. in AL - May 2, 2007 is there any military discount offered through your company Sheila, If you are doing a DITY move, Movex can provide you with weight tickets for reimbursement by Traffic Command. Most military members actually make money by using Movex and loading and unloading the moving truck themselves. So, to answer your question, we don't have a military discount, but we can help you make some money on your move. Making Moving Better Movex from Mike F. in TX - April 30, 2007 I'm in the military and will make a do-it-yourself (DITY) move when I travel to my next duty station. So that I am reimbursed properly, the program requires me to obtain the weights of the empty and loaded trailer in order that the weight of my household goods can be calculated. Can Movex accommodate my request in weighing the trailer before and after I load it? Mike, DITY moves are our specialty. Most military members that use Movex's service actually MAKE money on their move. The government reimburses them based on the weight tickets and a tariff that they have developed. The Movex pricing often allows for you to have a little money left over at the end of your move! Making Moving Better Movex from mike B. in VA - January 25, 2007 do you provide weight slips one for empty one for full. I am military and that is how we have to do it Mike, We are a great choice for military moves. Movex is able to provide you empty and full weight tickets so that you can be reimbursed for your move by the government. Good question as we perform a LOT of military moves. The Movex Web Team from vanessa G. in WA - January 17, 2007 hi, im moving from washington to sacramento california. my husband is going to iraq for a year and were putting alot in storage im only taking my bed and a few items whats the cheapest way to take a brandnew queen size bed withme? thanks Vanessa, To be perfectly honest with you, the absolute cheapest way to do this would be to store your mattress and buy a new one in Sacramento. A rental truck is the next cheapest route, and even that will be several hundred dollars (if you are moving from WA state... if you are moving from DC, you are looking at a couple of thousand dollars). We can get you some rates that will be very inexpensive when you are ready to move all of your things, but for what you are trying to accomplish here, buying a new one is definitely the way to go. Thanks, The Movex Web Team |
