> Ask A Question > Add A Comment from Carol F. in MO - February 19, 2008 I will be moving from Coulumbia, MO 65203 to Jacksonville FL 32221 around the last week of July this year. The size of the move will be about 1500lbs, or the size of a studio. About how many days will it take to transport my items to my new location? Also, do prices differ depending on the day of the move? If so, when are they the cheapest?
-Thank you CArol,
Movex has some of the fastest moving van transportation in the industry. We can deliver your shipment in as few as 3 days. Your relocation specialist can help you narrow down the dates. It is cheaper to move in the middle of the week. Friday through Monday is a bit more expensive, but not by much.
Making Moving Easier, MOvex from Melanie E. in CA - December 23, 2007 We have a one bedroom apartment and our VW jetta to move from CA to VA . . . how long will it take - our new apartment will not be available until 1/12 and we need to be out of our old apartment by 12/30. Could you also contact me re: price. Thanks! Melanie,
Thanks for the request. One of our relocation specialists will be with you shortly to discuss moving truck options and travel time. The moving trucks generally travel 500 miles per day, but with a smaller shipment, we could share the truck with others and possibly delay your delivery.
Making Moving Easier, Movex from Kristin C. in VA - November 20, 2007 What is the minimum transit time from Sterling, VA to Escondido, CA? We are planning to drive our car out and wanted to know how much time we had to sightsee along the way. Thanks in advance. Kristin,
The fastest transit that you would get on a coast to coast move is 5 days. It could take as much as 10 if you have a smaller shipment that would be sharing the moving truck with another customer. It is probably best to call our office to speak to one of our relocation specialists. They would be able to give you a more accurate answer as to transit times.
Making Moving Better, Movex from Matthew S. in UT - November 13, 2007 Do you guarantee either the drop off date for your vans or the date that it will arrive at the new location? Matt,
Movex guarantees a drop of date and a delivery in a small window. In your contract, you have in writing that if we miss any of our commitments, we will give you a portion of your move cost back to compensate. We are one of the most dependable logistics companies available.
Making Moving Better, Movex from Carolyn S. in CT - November 12, 2007 My brother in Durham, NC wants to ship me our parents' antique but not fragile dining room set. The table measures 48x60,6 chairs,1 buffet 45x22x36 and hutch 45x22x75.I live in Ridgefield, CT and I'd like to receive it sometime before mid Dec....Is this possible? Carolyn,
Movex has some of the quickest transit times in the industry. We could delivery in Ridgefield as soon as 3 days from the pickup. Our pricing on shipments moving in that direction is very competitive also.
Making Moving Better, Movex from Audra W. in WA - September 22, 2007 I am moving from Federal Way, WA to Haslet, TX. I need to leave WA early on Oct 18th and will not be ready for my delivery before Oct 25th. I am moving a 2bdr + size household. Will there be a problem with my truck arriving before I am ready for it?
Thank you! Audra,
Transit time on the moving truck for that shipment is generally 4 to 6 days. This means that your moving van could arrive before you do in Texas. The best thing to do would be to call one of our relocation specialists at 800-876-6839. They can get you exact transit for those dates and will also be able to assist you with costs for delaying delivery (another option for you).
Making Moving Better, Movex from Erin M. in GA - July 28, 2007 I will be moving to TX in the next month, but will not have an address to deliver to right away (I will be apartment hunting when I get there). How would this situation work? Erin,
We can schedule your move without having a delivery address as long as we have the correct city that you are moving to. We can add the delivery address to your move at any time up to the day of your move.
Making Moving Better, Movex from Daniel and Anndrea F. in CA - July 15, 2007 My move is very time sensitive. WIll Movex guarantee that a truck will arrive on the date agreed upon and stated on the contract? Daniel and Anndrea,
Movex guarantees that you truck will arrive on the date agreed upon and has specific monetary compensation to the customer if it does not. This is outlined in our Movex Relocation Agreement that both parties agree to prior to using our service.
Please remember that while we have guarantees for pickup dates, deliveries have to have a window as travel time may vary. All of this is outlined and explained fully during the reservation process.
Making Moving Better, Movex from Dawn G. in MA - July 8, 2007 1st of all thank you for all the great service you have provided me and I haven't even moved yet. I have a quick question, I am moving from Ludlow, MA to Killeen, TX 8-4. I will not be able to leave MA til 8-5 and plan to arrive in TX 8-8 will I be able their before my shipment arrives. I am renting 12' of space. Dawn,
... and thank you for the enthusiasm for Movex. We are very excited to be here and enjoy what we do. It make us all happy to see survey after survey come in with a 9 or 10 as a quality score!
To answer your question, the moving trucks travel approximately 500 miles a day. The first day of the delivery window for your 12ft shipment would be 8/8. So, you can safely count on us meeting your schedule.
Making Moving Better, Movex from Brad Z. in IL - July 7, 2007 I am moving from Chicago, IL, 60607 to Cambridge, MA, 02140 at the end of this month. How long do you deliver the stuff after pick up in such a case? The issue is that I only have 4 days in Cambridge before I leave the country for a month so I have to receive my stuff in those 4 days. What is your average/usual time frame for deliver for such a move? Brad,
Transit time for your move would be approximately 3 days. However, if you have a smaller shipment that is going to share the moving truck with another customer, I would not recommend risking a delivery that could put your international travel plans in jeaporday. It would be best for you to call and speak to one of our relocation specialists who can take all of the details of your move and give you some accurate parameters that would work for your relocation. They can be reached at 800-876-6839.
Making Moving Better, Movex from rich J. in NY - June 8, 2007 what sort of window of time does movex provide? i'm moving from new york to houston and don't want to sit too long in houston waiting on my goods. thanks. Rich,
The more that you move, the quicker it will get there. Because Movex fills the moving trucks, there could be 3 or 4 smaller shipments on the truck that load and unload in your route. If you have a large shipment that takes up most of the moving van, there is less time needed for other pickups and deliveries. Either way, Movex provides the fastest transit times in the industry. You will not be without your goods for long, regardless of how much you are moving.
Making Moving Better, Movex from Vio B. in NY - June 8, 2007 My family plans to move to FL at the beginning of July (from 11214 to 33782) . I submitted a moving quote but I did not see the option to add my car in the truck, too. How long would the actual transit time be, and approximately how much? Thank you. Vio,
One of our relocation specialists will be contacting you shortly with some pricing and more information on moving your car inside the moving truck. You can count on the moving vans travelling approximately 550 miles a day. So transit time for your relocation should be about 3 days.
Making Moving Better, Movex from heather G. in NV - May 17, 2007 quote#A824--- We wanted to do a little site seeing on our move. We are estimating taking atleast 4 days to get to our destination. Does this pose a problem? Also could we get a list of testimonials to review? Thank You, Heather Heather,
Moving from Nevada to Virginia, you should have plenty of time to view the country. The absolute fastest transit time for your 2400 mile move would be 5 days, so you should be safe.
We survey every customer that uses us. We will send some over to you. We are going to make that a part of our website soon so that everyone can review them.
Movex from Heidi A. in OH - May 17, 2007 Do you guarantee arrival dates? Due to my husband and I's current working schedule, we would need the truck to arrive on a certain date. Is that possible? We are moving from 45012 to 37441? (Ohio to FL, about 900 miles), how far before our delivery date do we need to pack up in Ohio? What if we need more or less space then originally contracted for? Thank you, Heidi Heidi,
We give a small delivery window and guarantee that the moving truck will deliver in that window. Because there is more than one customer on the truck (each has a private compartment), delivery dates could be affected by the loading and unloading of other shipments. That being said, the closer we get to your pickup, the more narrow your window becomes because our load planners will have finished planning the moving van's trip.
I would recommend calculating 550 miles of travel a day for the truck. So, for your shipment from Ohio to Florida you should load 2 days prior to your first available day for delivery.
If you need more space, you can add up to 4 feet of space to your shipment at the same rate per foot that you paid for the rest of your move (subject to availability). Since we plan for the space in advance, no refunds are issued for space ordered that is not used.
A call in to our relocation specialists at 800-876-6839 can further clarify some of your questions here.
Movex from Amy E. in OH - May 13, 2007 moving from ohio to lubbock texas, i'm wondering how to proceed should my stuff arrive before i do...should i plan on pickup a day after i leave? Amy,
We can work to accommodate your schedule. You can anticipate the moving trucks travelling 550 miles a day. But, there might also be other pickups and stops in between (each shipment gets its own compartment on the moving van so you don't have to worry about them getting mixed up).
The best way to schedule your move is to call one of our relocation specialists at 800-876-6839. They can help you work out the details.
Movex from Claire C. in NY - May 7, 2007 We are moving August 1st from Brooklyn, NY to Seattle, WA. How long do you think it would take for Movex to get our things to us in Seattle? Claire,
Transit is approximately 550 miles per day. So it should take about 6 days for us to get your shipment across the country. The larger the shipment, the quicker the delivery as smaller shipments need to be consolidated on the moving trucks (everyone gets a private compartment, but more than one shipment goes on each moving van). Making Moving Better Movex from Ronald D. in KS - May 1, 2007 If I load in KS on a MOnday and get finished before dark when will I be expected to unload in MO 512 miles.
ron Ron, The moving truck travels approximately 500 miles a day. So your schedule would most likely be load one day, drive one day, deliver one day. In all, a 3 day moving process. Making Moving Better, Movex from Glen L. in CA - April 30, 2007 Im a looking to use your service for a move from Sacramento, Ca. to Houston, Tx. How long will it take to get my shipment to my new home? Glen, The drivers, on average, drive 550 miles a day. So the transit time on your shipment from California to Texas would be approximately 4 days. If you need assistance with scheduling your move, please feel free to call us at 800-876-6839. Making Moving Better Movex from Yve S. in CA - April 30, 2007 2 Questions: 1) I'm going to be driving myself from CA to FL, and I will need to be the one to unload in FL. Can we coordinate a delivery date? 2) If I reserve a certain amount of feet and realize while loading that I'll need more, would that create a problem (other than the increased cost to me :-))? Thank you. Yve, 2 Answers: 1) We can work with you on a delivery schedule that would meet your needs
2) You can get up to 4 extra feet on loading day if it is available. This time of year, the trucks are generally running very full and don't have a lot of "wiggle" room. It is best to order a little bit too much space so that you are not pressed on loading day. Making Moving Better Movex from Amy R. in PA - April 20, 2007 If I load a truck on a Saturday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when is the earliest it could arrive in Detroit, Michigan?
The moving trucks travel approximately 550 miles a day. The earliest arrival on your shipment would be Monday. Making Moving Better, Movex from Stacy H. in FL - April 19, 2007 I am planning on loading the truck on a Saturday and would like to unload it at my new home the following Saturday. Is that possible? Stacy, That is possible. We would need some more information about where you are moving from and to and when you are moving to give you some options. Our relocation specialists at 800-876-6839 would be happy to assist you. Making Moving Better Movex from julie R. in NC - April 8, 2007 After I load the truck, do you provide short term storage? One to two months?
thank you, julie Julie, We do not provide short term storage. I would suggest that you put your items in a storage facility. Leaving your items in a truck or a POD for an extended period of time can result in less-than-desireable results. Making Moving Better Movex from David S. in NV - March 31, 2007 Moving from Las Vegas, Nevada to Laurel, Maryland...items will be relocated to a storage facility... Will you be able to give me an exact time to meet the moving van at the storage facility?
What happens if I underestimate or overestimate the space I need in the van? David, We will at first give you a delivery "window", a very short span of days in which the moving truck will arrive. As we move through the process together, your delivery will narrow as we see how quickly the truck is crossing the country and what other deliveries are loading and unloading along the way. The driver that picks up your shipment is the one the delivers it and you will be updated of his progress. If you have underestimated the amount of space needed, you sometimes can buy addtional space on loading day (subject to availability). I recommend overestimating a bit. Having extra space will keep you from having to stack items to the ceiling or worry about having to leave things behind. Making Moving Better Movex from D C. in VA - March 30, 2007 I read back about a month in the questions that you've answered, and they're very informative. Thank you. However, I was saddened to discover that you don't provide storage services. My potential move would involve having to sell our current home before we purchase the next one, which may take a few months, and I know there are others in your potential demographic that are in a similar position. Are there alternative arrangements that might be made through Movex that would be cost-effective? We would probably be using ~28 linear feet. You can hazard a guess of cost if you'd like. I promise I won't hold you to it. :-)
Anyway, I notice that your main "spring-ride" competitor does offer storage and was surprised that with the other advantages of Movex that storage isn't an included service. D, Thank you for the compliment. We want our website to be as informative as possible with pertinent information. My answer to your question would be another question. "Do you really want to leave all of your worldly possessions in the back of a freight van sitting unattended in a freight lot somewhere for months at a time?". I personally would want my furniture off of a truck and in a nice mini-storage, preferrably an air-conditioned one. We have a lot of options for slowing down the delivery process and accommodating customers needs. I think that the best bet for your situation is to move into a mini-storage until your new home is ready. Freight trucks get very hot, very cold, are prone to leaking, and are not really secure when left unattended overnight at a freight yard. That is the reason that we only provide direct shipments. Making Moving Better Movex from andre S. in MO - March 29, 2007 I will be in california only for a weekend with sunday april 15th open to pack up the truck. I'm flying back to Missouri the next day. Can you have the truck there on Sunday morning? Andre, Movex can help you 7 days a week. Part of the advantage of our service is that we can be very specific with pickup days and load on one day of a weekend. Our competitors want to leave a freight truck sitting in front of your house from Friday to Monday... which is inconvenient and not secure. Making Moving Better Movex from Barb H. in FL - March 22, 2007 What is your travel time from Florida to Massachusetts and is the arrival date guaranteed? Barb, Travel time to Massachusetts is 3 days. The arrival dates are guaranteed, but notice that I said dates, not date. Unless you are renting an entire moving truck, the delivery date of your shipment may be affected by the delivery of other shipments on the truck. There will be no more than a few days window in which your shipment would arrive. Your relocation specialist can help you determine when to expect your delivery. Making Moving Better Movex from Rachel R. in IL - March 12, 2007 We are moving from Chicago to Oakland, CA. We would have the truck drop our things at a storage facility, as we will not yet have an apartment. However, we would like to take our time driving cross-country, probably about 8 days. I imagine your trucks arrive sooner than that. Is there a way to schedule an arrival for a specific day? Rachel,
While we can't schedule your arrival for a specific day, we can narrow it down to a relatively small window. Size of shipment and distance travelled all plays into moving truck arrival times. If you call our offices, one of our relocation specialists can walk you through the process. Making Moving Better Movex from Forrest S. in VA - March 12, 2007 I have used your service once before and I was very pleased. We want to use the service again but are facing a delay of approximately 30 days between loading and having our new residence ready to unload. Do you offer any kind of storage for a loaded trailer? Forrest, Glad to have you back! Because of the nature of our service (direct shipments on moving vans), storage for that long is not really an option. We can generally help you for a few days here and there, but a month would be extremely cost prohibitive. I would suggest having us deliver to a mini storage. That will also give you greater flexibility in the event that you new home is not ready on time (which, unfortunately, is a common occurance that we deal with). Making Moving Better Movex from Sandy P. in IL - March 5, 2007 Do you offer storage at the destination city and state for a week or more after delivery? Sandy, Most of our moving trucks operate on a "direct delivery" basis. This limits our storage abilities. Please call our offices and one of our relocation specialists can help you figure out the best way to deal with your shipment. Making Moving Better, Movex from LA L. in CA - March 4, 2007 How long will it take for the movex truck to move my belongings and vehicle on a Saturday from Canoga Park, California to Gary, Indiana. LA, It is 2100 miles from Canoga Park to Gary. The moving trucks will travel, on average (still a lot of bad weather in the middle of the country) 500 miles per day. The larger your shipment, the smaller the delivery window. We also have some guaranteed delivery options that any one of our representatives would be happy to work out with you. Making Moving Better Movex from Michele A. in AR - February 22, 2007 I will be moving from Arkansas to Oregon and have received a quote from you. Approximately how long will it take for my belongings to arrive at my destination? Michele,
It will take approximately 4 to 6 days for us to get to Oregon.
Making Moving Better, Movex
from Sandy W. in NC - February 21, 2007 We are moving approx. 170 mi from NC to GA. We have to be out of our house on Thurs, but cannot get into our new house until around 5 pm Fri. Is this schedule possible? Absolutely! Please call one of our relocation specialists at 800-876-6839 and they will be happy to help you with the scheduling.
Making Moving Better, Movex from Richard F. in CA - February 17, 2007 I will be moving from zip code 90505 in Torrance CA to zip code 23185 in Williamsburg VA. Included in my shipment is a spinet piano and piano bench. Will the piano be secured safely and how many days will it take to go from zip code to zip code? Richard,
All of the moving trucks provided by Movex are equipped with furniture blankets, loading ramps, a dolly, and tie-down straps. Since you load and unload, it would be up to you to secure the piano, but you will have all of the equipment that you need to properly do it. It will take between 5 and 7 days for a cross country trip.
Making Moving Better, Movex from J G. in IN - February 15, 2007 can you tell me how long it would take to get my stuff from central indiana to florida using your service? J,
Our drivers can travel about 500 miles a day. Depending on the size of your shipment, we can have it there in as little as 3 days, but it may take as many as 6 (if we have other shipments to pick up on the way).
Making Moving Better, Movex from Grant L. in FL - February 13, 2007 From zip code 34759 to zip code 78628 approx. haow many days for delivery. I would not be in any hurry,in fact might like a delay. Is this possible? Grant,
It should take us 3 days to get from FL to TX. We can work with you on the delivery window. If you call 800-876-6839, one of our relocation specialists can assist you with setting up your move.
Making Moving Better, The Movex Web Team from Jim C. in CA - February 9, 2007 I just spoke to Cliff, however, i forgot to ask - i will be packing my items on the 26th of Feb - when can i expect it to arrive at 76306? Jim,
You should expect delivery the 1st 3 days of March. As we get closer to your loading day, we will narrow that down as the schedule solidifies.
Making Moving Easier, The Movex Web Team from Lindsay R. in PA - January 31, 2007 Is there a regualtion as to the number of miles, or hours a driver can do in 1 day? Lindsay,
Yes there is. The DOT regulates commercial drivers by the number of hours that they can drive in a day. The rules are a little complicated, but the basic gist is that they can only drive for 10 hours a day (which is a LOT of driving). If you call our office, a moving specialist can help you calculate how long it will take the moving truck to get from your origin to destination. Thank you for the good question. The Movex Web Team from patti geriann behrens B. in ID - January 12, 2007 Could you email me the itinerary of when the moving truck is coming? Moving #A771457. Thank you, Geri Geri, We received your truck reservation earlier this morning. We should have your move scheduled soon. Once it is on the schedule, you will receive confirmation and times from our Moving Coordinators. If you have any other questions, please feel free to call the operations department at 800-820-1488. The Movex Web Team from Shirley W. in PA - January 8, 2007 Moving from 17268 to 23606. My son would like to pack the truck Friday evening and have the delivery made to the new location the next day (Saturday). He starts a new job on Tuesday and would like to be somewhat settled. Is is possible to arrange the move in that manner? Shirley, We do have next day service available from Waynesboro, PA to Newport News, VA. Please fill out our request form to the right (at the top of this page)or call us at 800-876-6839 and we can make all of the arrangements for you. Thank you, The Movex Web Team from Peter S. in CA - December 29, 2006 I am planning a move from California to New Jersey on the 14th of January. How long will it take to get to NJ ?
Thanks, Peter S. Peter,
On average, our trucks travel 500 miles per day. Depending on how big your shipment is, it will take between 5 and 9 days (if you shipment is small, it will go on the truck with other shipments, if large or the whole truck, it will arrive much closer to 5 days because the truck won't need to stop to pick anyone else's stuff up).
Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to call us at 800-876-6839 and we can walk you through the process and help you with reservations.
