Hello: I am moving from MD to FL. I need to move 2 bedrooms of items and my Ford Exployer. I don't know the best way to do it... Either rent a truck one way and ship my car separate. Any advise and quotes would be appreciated.

How do you determine the size of your shipment?

There are some "rules of thumb" that you might want to use. As a rule, you should consider about 4.5ft of truck space per furnished room. Obviously, a more heavily furnished room would require more, less...less.

If you want to really be certain about the amount of space, the best thing to do is to go in your garage or driveway and measure off 8.5ft wide by the length of space that you are thinking about ordering. "Pre-load" all of your non-critical items into this space. You can then have a pretty good estimation of whether or not you will need additional footage on the moving truck.

There is no exact way to determine the amount of space. When in doubt, order too much. The extra couple of feet will not cost that much and the peace of mind will be well worth it.

I'm not sure I understand what 10 ft. means. How much furniture will 8ft. or 10 ft. of spadce hold?

Each of the moving trucks is 8.5ft wide and 9ft tall. The length of space is what is quoted on this website. The best way to determine if all of your stuff will fit in the space is to measure it out in a room of your house or in your garage/driveway. You need to determine if that is going to be enough space in which to load all of your belongings. Much the same way you would decide which size Uhaul truck to rent, 10ft, 14ft, 17ft, or 24ft.

We are moving from Plano, IL to Tombstone, AZ over the next 6 to 9 months. I want to ship the first load of items to Arizona in early July 2008. My concern is the road to our new house. It is a dirt/rock road and it runs about 2.5 miles back to our house. Can you get the truck up that road?

The large moving trucks are not designed to drive on anything other than pavement. Your best bet is to shuttle everything from the "hard road" in smaller vehicles that can handle the dirt and rock. There is too much risk that the tractor-trailers will get stuck in the dirt.. it is darn near impossible to get them unstuck once they are in a bad spot.

I live in st augustine fl and we are moving to paradise,ca. My husband does not think a big truck will be able to get in our drive way. The drive way is 18 feet wide. Would you guys be able to get it in the drive way.

18ft wide is certainly wide enough for the moving truck as long as the driver can back straight in. There is not enough room there to turn, but a straight back-in should be fine. Worst case scenario, the driver would need to park on the street and you would need to bring the furniture down the driveway.

The moving trucks would require approximately 70ft of space for parking. For security reasons, we do not leave the moving trucks overnight. We would bring them in the am and you would have all day to load.

Do your moving trucks come with a side door opening? It would be easier for us to be able to have a ramp from the side of the truck to our front door? If not, how high off the ground is back load height? Thanks!

Some of the moving trucks have side doors, some do not. We can request one when you make your moving reservation. The loading height of all of the moving vans is between 42" and 48". Military Move. I would like to place my motorcycle on a trailer and then put the trailer IN the back of the moving van. Do you have any restrictions on this. The trailor is small enough to fit inside the moving van.

The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that the inside dimensions on the moving truck are 8.5ft wide by 9ft tall. If your trailer will fit inside those dimensions, you are more than welcome to put it on the moving truck.

The minumum shipment size for a Movex relocation is 6ft of truck space. If you are moving just boxes, it is going to be cheaper to ship them via UPS. Once you put together a load that will take 6' of space on a truck or more, Movex can't be beat.

An excellent reason to use Movex for this type of move is because the driver stays with the moving truck and will leave when you are finished loading.

Make sure that you have plenty of space for the moving van to park as they are full-sized (53ft) and hard to maneuver in an apartment complex. Check with your manager and make sure that there is, in fact, a place to park safely.

Hello, we are currently living in an apartment in Boston, MA and planning a move to an apartment in San Francisco, CA. Both cities are very urban and don't offer much in the way of street parking for a 28' trailor. We will not have a private driveway at either residence. What sorts of options do we have when using a freight company?

Movex is bonded with the city of Boston and has a parking permit to park anywhere that we can get a moving truck. San Jose does not give us the opportunity to do that, so you may have to shuttle the shipment from our truck to your new apartment. We will bring the moving van to the closest safe parking place where you would have to meet us and unload.

Please remember that we would bring a 53' moving van, not a 28' freight truck. You do not want to put your valuable furniture on a 28' pup trailer.

I would like to know what the maximum amount of weight your 53' trailers can carry, and what is the cu ft size of the trailer. Also, while I have little doubt that your truck can drive and park in front of my house, how can I be certain?

The maximum weight of household goods that a moving truck can carry is somewhere around 25,000# (this would be a very dense, professionally loaded capacity). Most self-movers can fill the truck to a capacity of somewhere around 20,000#.

The actual weight limit that we allow on the trucks is 35,000#. If you had a garage full of woodworking tools and a library to move, you might be able to get that kind of weight loaded onto the truck.

The only way to be certain of a moving truck being able to park in front of your house is to a)have had one there before or b)let us try to get one there. Without actually trying, there is no way to be certain. 99.5% of our moves go without a hitch on parking.

All of the moving trucks are 53ft in length and 8.5ft wide. We are not sure we understand your question of "How long in feet not linear?". The price is actually based on the linear feet.

For example: 4 bedroom house = 32 linear feet (space required will vary with how heavily furnished, etc.).

I have an antique large dining room table, chairs and buffet in Strongsville, Ohio that I am trying to bring to Daytona Beach, Florida. Obviously this is not a full load for a moving van, so would it still be feasible to ship it through your company or would it be better (cheaper) to go up there and rent a uhaul myself? I am planning to move from CA to NY in April. What are the inside dimensions of your trucks? Also, once I pack the truck, about how long will it be until my belongings arrive in NY? Movex will send a moving truck that is anywhere from 22ft to 53ft. The moving van that is sent depends on your needs and availability. We have very minimal availability of trucks with lift-gates. Most of them are equipped with loading ramps. We allow anywhere from 4 hours to 24 hours to load and/or unload the truck. Again, it depends on how much space you have reserved.
Once you have spoken to one of our relocation specialist to evaluate needs, there are no hidden costs with your move. The rates that they quote you are guaranteed. The biggest moving truck that we have access to is 53ft (that is the length of the trailer section where you would load your furniture). The smallest shipment size that we handle is 4ft.
